While the SCARP Administration runs official orientation events and sessions for incoming students, the UBC PSA also organizes an overnight trip to Whistler for the first year students every September. Many second year students also go to Whistler in order to meet the incoming students and reconnect with each other.

Last year, the Orientation Coordinators arranged for us to visit the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre where we learned about some of the community’s planning initiatives. They also organized a game of CLUE, planning-style, featuring illustrious and nefarious planning legends like Jane Jacobs, John Friedman, and Richard Florida. We also went for a hike, swam in a lake, and got to know one another over great meals and beach volleyball.
