The UBC PSA is deeply committed to the principle of sustainability and we work to include it in all of our activities as a student association, as well as to spread these values in the work that we do in the community.

The Sustainability Committee will continue to develop and update the sustainability charter (check it out here) and zero waste initiatives for WMAX. They will also inform SCARP students of campus wide sustainability events and coordinate with the Social Committee on fun sustainability-related events. The committee also plans to brainstorm and initiate a larger SCARP sustainability project with a partner community group or organization in Metro Vancouver.

This year, one of our goals is to do more active outreach by partnering with a local community-based organization. By building a long-lasting, multi-year partnership with a local sustainability-oriented group, UBC PSA students can contribute to furthering community and environmental wellbeing in the Metro Vancouver region.

In March, the Sustainability Committee participated in the 9th Annual Fraser River Clean-up after connecting with the Fraser Riverkeeper Organization.
